Not for the faint-hearted, you'll do a Yachtmaster Limited, Yachtmaster Unlimited and a 3000 nm voyage on the way to achieving a professional qualification that's recognized by the megayacht industry. BUT BEWARE: While this course will highly qualify you, there is no substitute for true hands-on experience!
	NB: We at PYT ONLY offer MCA recognized qualifications with no unnecessary frills or "Bubble Gum Wrapper" type certificates to make it look more important. Employers are interested in the quality of certificates, not their quantity so non-MCA recognized certificates in diesel engines, electronics and diving are about as useful in the megayacht industry as a needlework qualification or a Noddy badge.

Correct qualifications essential for a career

Since February 2002 the mega-yacht industry has felt the full impact of the implementation of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) legislation. Although only British flagged vessels are directly affected, insurance companies are now using the MCA as the benchmark. Crew members have no option but to hold the correct qualifications to have any chance of entering the megayacht industry and realizing its full earning potential.

Candidates with a Yachtmaster Limited Certificate are only being considered for the most basic deckhand jobs and not much more, because this qualification is required for them to legally carry out watchkeeping duties.

	We at PYT are now in a position to offer an alternative that changes the traditional strategy for new entrants to the industry. Until now one had to undergo basic training and get shore-based day work until a crewing position was secured to be able to log the 50 days live aboard, 3 000 nautical miles and 36 night watchkeeping hours needed to qualify for training at the first level of Yachtmaster Limited certification.
This usually took one season and holiday time had to be used for training; not the best way to spend a much-needed break. Our option in the form of a very intensive 11 week course is not for the faint hearted but it will fast track your entry to a career in the yachting industry by getting you qualified to meet the requirements of the mega yacht employers in advance.
	Successful candidates will be awarded a MEANINGFUL, PROFESSIONAL, COMMERCIAL Captain's Licence from International Yachtmaster Training. However, we have to repeat, graduates will be highly qualified but must realise that their education will have far outstripped their experience and care must be taken not to fall into the "Zero to Hero" trap.

THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE! Like all newly-qualified professionals, graduates of this course will essentially be over-qualified but woefully inexperienced and must guard against irresponsibly over selling their abilities: you are still very much a beginner albeit very well placed to advance to the higher ranks of Officer of the Watch, Chief Mate and eventually Master after further training and the requisite years of experience.
